Amazon Application Recovery Controller announces AWS FIS recovery action for zonal autoshift

AWS Fault Injection Service (FIS) has introduced a new recovery action for Amazon Application Recovery Controller (ARC) zonal autoshift, enabling customers to simulate and test infrastructure resilience.

  • When AWS detects potential infrastructure issues in an Availability Zone, zonal autoshift automatically shifts traffic away
  • New FIS AZ Availability: Power Interruption scenario allows testing of zonal autoshift responses
  • Simulates complete power interruption in an Availability Zone
  • Demonstrates failover scenarios for compute, RDS, and ElastiCache services
  • Helps customers improve application monitoring and recovery processes

The new recovery action is available in all AWS Regions that support FIS and zonal autoshift, including AWS GovCloud (US) Regions.
