Amazon API Gateway now supports dual-stack (IPv4 and IPv6) endpoints across all commercial and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions.
- Supports REST, HTTP, and WebSocket APIs with dual-stack IP addressing
- Enables configuration of dual-stack endpoints through AWS Management Console and AWS CDK
- Addresses IPv4 address scarcity and rising costs
- Allows configuration of IP address type for new and existing APIs
- Requires updates to resource policies to accommodate IPv6 source IP formats
This update provides organizations a smooth transition path to support both IPv4 and IPv6 clients simultaneously, helping future-proof network infrastructure.
