AWS has introduced Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for card registration in Japan to improve payment security.
- MFA is required when registering new cards during sign-up or in the AWS Billing Console
- Supports major card networks including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and others
- Uses 3D-Secure technology, the global standard for card payment security
- Customers will be redirected to their card issuer's authentication page to complete MFA
- Applies to both new and existing AWS customers adding or updating payment methods
The new MFA process helps protect customers against credit card fraud by adding an extra layer of security during card registration.
