ReliefWeb and AWS distribute life-saving insights faster with generative AI

AWS is supporting ReliefWeb, the UN's emergency reporting service, by leveraging generative AI to accelerate humanitarian information sharing and crisis response.
- AWS invested $25,000 and provided engineering support to develop "Ask ReliefWeb", an AI-powered chat application
- The application uses Amazon Titan models in Amazon Bedrock to provide instant answers from humanitarian reports
- In 2023, ReliefWeb added 50,950 emergency situation reports covering crises in Yemen, Ethiopia, Haiti, and Myanmar
- The AI solution can reduce information retrieval time from hours to seconds for humanitarian organizations
- AWS is helping vectorize ReliefWeb's database to make crisis data more accessible via API
The collaboration aims to ensure that no humanitarian crisis goes unnoticed and that aid workers can quickly access critical information to save lives.
