AWS STS global endpoint now serves your requests locally in regions enabled by default

News

AWS Security Token Service (AWS STS) has enhanced its global endpoint functionality to improve performance and resiliency for users.

  • STS global endpoint now serves requests locally in the same AWS Region as deployed workloads
  • Previously, all global endpoint requests were routed through US East (N. Virginia)
  • Provides improved latency and fault isolation for applications
  • Change applies to all AWS Regions enabled by default
  • No customer action required to benefit from the enhancement
  • Opt-in Regions will continue to be served from US East (N. Virginia)

AWS recommends using regional STS endpoints when possible for optimal performance and reliability.
