News

Amazon EBS has introduced enhanced resource-level permissions for copying EBS snapshots, providing more granular control over snapshot copying across regions and accounts.

  • Users can now copy snapshots they own or have been shared with them
  • Six EC2-specific condition keys are now available for CopySnapshot actions:
    • ec2:Encrypted
    • ec2:VolumeSize
    • ec2:Owner
    • ec2:ParentVolume
    • ec2:SnapshotTime
    • ec2:ParentSnapshot
  • Global condition keys can also be used for source snapshots
  • New permission model is available in all regions where EBS snapshots exist

This update provides more flexible and precise control over snapshot copying and IAM permissions.
