Amazon EBS now supports enhanced resource-level permissions for creating EBS volumes from snapshots, offering more granular control over volume creation and snapshot selection.

  • Allows more precise IAM identity controls for creating EBS volumes from snapshots
  • Introduces 5 new EC2-specific condition keys for IAM policies:
    • ec2:Encrypted
    • ec2:VolumeSize
    • ec2:Owner
    • ec2:ParentVolume
    • ec2:SnapshotTime
  • Global condition keys can also be used for source snapshots
  • Available in all AWS Regions where EBS volumes are supported

This enhancement provides administrators with more precise security and access management for EBS volume creation from snapshots.
