Amazon DynamoDB Streams now supports Kinesis Client Library (KCL) 3.0, offering significant improvements in stream data processing:

  • Reduces compute costs by up to 33% compared to previous versions
  • Introduces an enhanced load balancing algorithm for better worker resource utilization
  • Built with AWS SDK for Java 2.x, improving performance and security
  • Removes dependency on AWS SDK for Java 1.x
  • Allows easy migration from KCL 1.x without changing data processing logic

The update enables more efficient, cost-effective, and streamlined processing of DynamoDB Streams data across all AWS Regions.
