Design quantum integrated circuits with open-source software DeviceLayout.jl from AWS

Quantum Computing Blog

AWS has introduced DeviceLayout.jl, an open-source software package for designing quantum integrated circuits, developed by the AWS Center for Quantum Computing. The key highlights include:

  • Enables schematic-driven layout design for quantum processors
  • Supports scaling of quantum device designs from a few to tens of qubits
  • Developed in Julia programming language for reproducibility and technical computing
  • Integrates with Palace, an electromagnetic simulation tool
  • Demonstrated with a 17-qubit processor design and electromagnetic simulation workflow

The software allows quantum hardware designers to manage complexity, iterate on designs quickly, and collaborate more effectively using a modular, code-based approach to circuit layout and simulation.
