Introducing Amazon Keyspaces CDC streams

Database Blog

AWS has introduced Amazon Keyspaces Change Data Capture (CDC) streams, a new feature that enables real-time tracking of data changes in Amazon Keyspaces tables. This feature offers several key capabilities:

  • Captures row-level modifications in tables for 24 hours
  • Generates detailed records for inserts, updates, and deletes
  • Supports multiple view types: NEW_AND_OLD_IMAGES, NEW_IMAGE, OLD_IMAGE, and KEYS_ONLY
  • Automatically manages shard lifecycle for optimal performance
  • Can be consumed using Streams API or Kinesis Client Library (KCL)

Use cases include real-time data integration, search and analytics, and maintaining compliance audit trails. The feature allows streaming data changes to services like Amazon OpenSearch Service and building event-driven architectures with immediate response to data modifications.
