Amazon VPC CNI Plugin now supports attaching multiple network interfaces to pods, enhancing network performance for Kubernetes workloads.
- Enables leveraging full bandwidth of Amazon EC2 instances with multiple network cards
- Particularly beneficial for AI, ML, and HPC use cases
- Previously, pods were assigned one elastic network interface (ENI)
- Now supports multi-homed pods with multiple network card interfaces
- Distributed application traffic across multiple concurrent ENI connections
- Available in version 1.20.0 across commercial and GovCloud AWS Regions
This enhancement allows users to maximize network performance and bandwidth for Kubernetes-based applications by utilizing multiple network interfaces per pod.
