Introducing Amazon S3 Vectors: First cloud storage with native vector support at scale (preview)

AWS has announced the preview of Amazon S3 Vectors, a new cloud storage solution with native vector support designed for generative AI applications.

  • First cloud object store with native vector storage capabilities
  • Can reduce vector storage and querying costs by up to 90 percent
  • Supports creating vector buckets with up to 10,000 vector indexes
  • Each vector index can hold tens of millions of vectors
  • Natively integrates with Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, and OpenSearch
  • Enables semantic search, retrieval-augmented generation, and AI agent memory

S3 Vectors allows businesses to economically store and query vector embeddings for unstructured data like images, documents, and audio files, supporting various AI use cases.
