This article announces the general availability of Amazon S3 Vectors, a cloud object storage service with native vector support for AI and machine learning workloads.
- Store and query up to two billion vectors per index with 10,000 indexes per bucket
- Reduces vector storage and query costs by up to 90% compared to alternatives
- Query latency under one second for infrequent queries, ~100ms for frequent queries
- Write throughput of 1,000 vectors per second with up to 100 search results per query
- Supports 50 metadata keys per vector for fine-grained filtering
- Integrates with Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases and Amazon OpenSearch Service
- Encryption with S3-managed or customer-managed keys; per-index key support for multi-tenant apps
- Now available in 14 AWS Regions, expanded from 5 in preview
