AWS IoT Core now supports customer-managed keys (CMK) through AWS Key Management Service (KMS), providing enhanced encryption and security control for IoT data.

  • Allows customers to encrypt IoT Core data using their own encryption keys
  • Provides complete control over key lifecycle, including creation and rotation
  • Automatically re-encrypts existing data without disrupting IoT operations
  • Helps organizations meet security requirements within AWS shared responsibility model
  • Available in all AWS Regions that support AWS IoT Core

This feature gives organizations more granular control and flexibility in managing encryption for their IoT device data.
