Amazon CloudFront now supports IPv6 origins for end-to-end IPv6 delivery
Networking & Content Delivery Blog
Amazon CloudFront now supports end-to-end IPv6 delivery, enabling organizations to use IPv6 from end users to origin servers. This update provides several significant benefits:
- Eliminates Network Address Translation (NAT) overhead
- Improves packet processing efficiency
- Enables more predictable transmission and congestion control
- Increases connection scalability
- Supports dual-stack connectivity (IPv4 and IPv6)
Users can configure IPv6 origins through the CloudFront console or API, choosing between IPv4, IPv6, or dual-stack options. The update is particularly beneficial for mobile networks and helps future-proof content delivery infrastructure by reducing latency and improving performance.
