Amazon FSx for Windows File Server now supports Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6), providing customers with enhanced networking flexibility and addressing modern network requirements.
- Enables access to file systems using IPv4, IPv6, or dual-stack clients
- Helps mitigate IPv4 address exhaustion in private networks
- Meets government mandates like US Office of Management and Budget M-21-07
- No complex infrastructure needed for IPv6 to IPv4 address translation
- Available in all AWS Commercial and AWS GovCloud (US) regions
- Support for existing file systems coming in an upcoming maintenance window
This update provides customers with more flexible and future-proof networking options for their Windows File Server file systems.
