Amazon Kinesis Video Streams now supports IPv6 for Streams capability

News

AWS has announced IPv6 support for Amazon Kinesis Video Streams (KVS), providing new capabilities for video streaming infrastructure:

  • Dual-stack endpoints now support both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses
  • Enables streaming video from millions of devices with IPv6 connectivity
  • Addresses IPv4 address exhaustion challenges in private networks
  • Supports seamless transitions between IPv4, IPv6, and dual-stack clients
  • Available in most commercial AWS regions, excluding Ap-Southeast-1 and GovCloud

The enhancement provides organizations greater network flexibility, simplifies IPv6 transitions, and helps meet compliance requirements without relying on costly address translation equipment.
