AWS has announced the general availability of Volume Clones for Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS), a new feature that enables instant creation of point-in-time volume copies.

  • Allows instant volume copies within the same Availability Zone
  • Provides single-digit millisecond latency for copied volumes
  • Accelerates test and development environment creation
  • Integrates with Amazon EBS Container Storage Interface (CSI) driver
  • Available in all AWS Commercial and GovCloud (US) Regions
  • Supports all EBS volume types
  • Accessible via AWS Console, CLI, SDKs, and CloudFormation

Volume Clones simplifies software development workflows by enabling quick, low-latency volume copies within the same account and Availability Zone.
