Amazon RDS for SQL Server now supports retaining CDC configurations when restoring database backups
News
Amazon RDS for SQL Server has introduced a new feature that allows users to retain Change Data Capture (CDC) configurations when restoring database backups.
- CDC tracks insert, update, and delete operations in database tables
- Previously, restoring a backup would remove CDC configurations and data
- New KEEP_CDC option preserves CDC metadata and captured change data
- Users can maintain CDC settings when restoring to a new instance or database name
- Feature is available in all AWS Regions supporting Amazon RDS for SQL Server
This enhancement helps customers maintain continuous data change tracking and reduces potential gaps in data capture during database restoration.
