Amazon Kinesis Data Streams now supports 10x larger record sizes

Amazon Kinesis Data Streams has enhanced its capabilities by increasing record size support from 1MiB to 10MiB, providing significant improvements for data streaming.

  • Record size increased from 1MiB to 10MiB (10x larger)
  • PutRecords request size doubled from 5MiB to 10MiB
  • Supports simplified data pipeline management for IoT, change data capture, and generative AI workloads
  • Can update stream's maximum record size via AWS Management Console or UpdateMaxRecordSize API
  • No additional costs beyond standard Kinesis data streams charges
  • AWS Lambda now supports larger payloads up to 6MiB from Kinesis Data Streams

The enhancement allows customers to publish larger data payloads without maintaining separate processing pipelines, reducing operational complexity.
