Announcing AWS X-Ray SDKs/Daemon End-of-Support and OpenTelemetry Migration

AWS is announcing the end-of-support for AWS X-Ray SDKs and Daemon, with a planned transition to OpenTelemetry for application tracing and observability:
- X-Ray SDKs will enter maintenance mode on February 25, 2026
- Full end-of-support date is February 25, 2027
- During maintenance mode, only critical bug and security fixes will be provided
- AWS recommends migrating to OpenTelemetry-based instrumentation
- Migration will provide access to tools like CloudWatch Application Signals
The transition aims to leverage OpenTelemetry's industry-standard approach to application telemetry, offering broader support, more language integrations, and zero-code instrumentation capabilities.
