This article announces a new configurable scale-in delay feature for Amazon ECS Managed Instances, enabling fine-tuned infrastructure optimization based on workload patterns.
- ECS Managed Instances now supports configurable scaleInAfter parameter up to 60 minutes
- Allows customization of instance termination timing to match specific workload requirements
- Set scaleInAfter to -1 to disable optimization and retain instances for 14 days
- Helps balance cost optimization with operational needs and reduces instance churn
- Available via ECS API, console, SDK, CDK, and CloudFormation
- Feature available in all commercial AWS Regions
