Amazon MSK Console now supports viewing Kafka topics with new public APIs

This article announces new console capabilities for Amazon MSK that enable viewing Kafka topics directly without setting up admin clients.

  • Browse and search Kafka topics within a cluster through the MSK console
  • Review replication settings, partition counts, and detailed configuration
  • Three new APIs: ListTopics, DescribeTopic, and DescribeTopicPartitions
  • APIs available via AWS CLI and SDKs for programmatic access
  • Supported on MSK Provisioned clusters with Kafka version 3.6 and above
  • Requires appropriate IAM permissions to use

Amazon MSK now simplifies topic inspection by providing console-based viewing and new public APIs, eliminating the need for external Kafka admin clients.
