This article announces that Amazon RDS for SQL Server now supports Microsoft SQL Server 2022 Developer Edition, a free edition with all Enterprise features for non-production use.
- SQL Server Developer Edition is free and contains all Enterprise Edition features
- Reduces licensing costs for development and testing environments
- Maintains consistency with production database configurations
- All RDS features work with Developer Edition: backups, updates, monitoring, encryption
- Developer Edition strictly limited to non-production and non-commercial use
