Amazon S3 Storage Lens adds performance metrics, support for billions of prefixes, and export to S3 Tables

AWS News Blog

This article announces three new capabilities for Amazon S3 Storage Lens that enhance storage performance visibility and analytics.

  • Eight new performance metric categories identify bottlenecks at organization, account, bucket, and prefix levels
  • Metrics include read/write request sizes, storage size, concurrent PUT 503 errors, and cross-region transfers
  • Expanded prefixes metrics report now supports billions of prefixes without size or depth limitations
  • S3 Storage Lens metrics can be automatically exported to S3 Tables for SQL querying
  • Integration with Amazon Athena, QuickSight, EMR, and Redshift enables advanced analytics
  • All features available in Advanced tier at no additional charge beyond standard pricing

These enhancements enable organizations to optimize S3 performance, reduce costs, and gain granular visibility across their entire storage infrastructure using familiar analytics tools.
