AWS Cloud Operations Blog

This article announces Amazon CloudWatch RUM support for mobile application monitoring on iOS and Android platforms, extending real user monitoring capabilities beyond web applications.

  • Lightweight SDK integration enables performance data collection from actual mobile users
  • Monitors screen load times, app crashes, ANRs (Android) and app hangs (iOS)
  • Two instrumentation options: zero-code agent or manual configuration
  • Performance tab shows load times, app launch metrics, and geographic insights
  • Errors tab tracks network errors, crashes, and ANRs with stack traces
  • Sessions tab visualizes individual user journeys with waterfall diagrams
  • Integrates with CloudWatch Application Signals and AWS X-Ray for end-to-end tracing
  • Available across all commercial regions where CloudWatch RUM operates

CloudWatch RUM Mobile enables proactive performance optimization by providing actionable insights into real user experiences, replacing reactive debugging approaches.
