Amazon MQ now supports certificate based authentication with mutual TLS for RabbitMQ brokers

This article announces certificate-based authentication support for Amazon MQ RabbitMQ brokers using mutual TLS.

  • RabbitMQ brokers can now authenticate using X.509 client certificates with mTLS
  • Requires RabbitMQ version 4.2 and above on M7g instance types
  • Configure auth_mechanism_ssl plugin via the broker configuration file
  • Available in all regions where Amazon MQ RabbitMQ 4 is supported
  • Enable through AWS Management Console, CLI, or SDKs

Amazon MQ now provides certificate-based authentication for enhanced security in RabbitMQ deployments.
