This article announces that Amazon MSK now supports dual-stack (IPv4 and IPv6) connectivity for existing MSK Provisioned and Serverless clusters.

  • Enables simultaneous IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity for MSK clusters
  • Helps modernize applications for IPv6 while maintaining IPv4 compatibility
  • Update existing clusters via Console, CLI, SDK, or CloudFormation
  • IPv6 network interfaces provisioned while maintaining existing IPv4 connectivity
  • GetBootstrapBrokers API retrieves new IPv6 bootstrap broker strings
  • Available in all AWS Regions where MSK is available at no additional cost

This update allows customers to modernize their Kafka infrastructure for IPv6 environments while ensuring backward compatibility and uninterrupted service.
