Amazon EKS and Amazon EKS Distro now supports Kubernetes version 1.36

This article announces that Amazon EKS and Amazon EKS Distro now support Kubernetes version 1.36, which includes several new features and improvements.

  • User Namespaces promoted to general availability for enhanced container security
  • Mutating Admission Policies enable CEL-based resource mutations without webhooks
  • In-Place Pod-Level Resources Vertical Scaling allows CPU/memory resizing without restart
  • Resource Health Status reporting identifies hardware-caused crash loops
  • Available in all AWS Regions including GovCloud (US)
  • Create new clusters or upgrade existing clusters via console, eksctl, or infrastructure-as-code

AWS EKS now supports Kubernetes 1.36 globally, enabling users to leverage new security and resource management capabilities.
