Amazon MSK Replicator now supports replication from external Apache Kafka clusters to MSK Standard brokers

News

Amazon MSK Replicator now supports data replication from external Apache Kafka clusters to MSK Standard brokers, extending capabilities previously limited to MSK Express brokers.

  • Replicate data from on-premises, self-managed, or third-party Kafka clusters to MSK Standard brokers
  • Support SASL/SCRAM and mutual TLS (mTLS) authentication for external cluster connections
  • Replicate bidirectionally from MSK Standard to external Kafka clusters for failback scenarios
  • Retain original Kafka topic names and automatically prevent infinite replication loops
  • Synchronize consumer group offsets bidirectionally for independent producer/consumer migration
  • Available in all AWS Regions where MSK Replicator is supported

This launch enables seamless workload migration, disaster recovery, and hybrid/multi-cloud data distribution without managing custom replication infrastructure.
