MSK Replicator now supports OAuth 2.0 (SASL/OAUTHBEARER) authentication for replication from external Apache Kafka clusters to Amazon MSK

News

This article announces OAuth 2.0 (SASL/OAUTHBEARER) authentication support for Amazon MSK Replicator, enabling data replication from external Apache Kafka clusters to Amazon MSK.

  • Replicate data from on-premises, self-managed, or cloud-based Apache Kafka clusters using OAuth/OIDC authentication
  • Support workload migration, disaster recovery, and multi-cloud data distribution scenarios
  • Retain original Kafka topic names during replication and prevent infinite replication loops
  • Synchronize consumer group offsets bidirectionally for independent producer/consumer movement
  • Available in all AWS Regions where MSK Replicator is supported

OAuth 2.0 support expands MSK Replicator's authentication options beyond SASL/SCRAM and mTLS, simplifying secure data replication across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
