Amazon ECS now provides Action Logs for deployment and orchestration visibility

News

This article announces Action Logs, a new observability feature for Amazon ECS that provides detailed, timestamped records of deployment and orchestration operations.

  • Delivers visibility into service deployment state transitions and Managed Daemon updates previously invisible to customers
  • Each log entry includes event name, log level (INFO, WARN, ERROR), resource ARNs, and status reason
  • Opt-in at cluster level via Amazon ECS console or CloudWatch vended logs APIs
  • Logs can be delivered to CloudWatch Logs, Amazon S3, or Kinesis Data Firehose
  • Amazon Q in ECS console integrates with Action Logs to detect issues and provide root cause analysis
  • Available in all AWS Regions including GovCloud (US)

Action Logs help reduce mean time to resolution for deployment issues without requiring AWS Support contact or manual data correlation.
