AWS Secrets Manager now automatically publishes events to Amazon EventBridge whenever secret values change, enabling real-time event-driven workflows.
- Eliminates need to parse CloudTrail events for secret updates
- Publishes events directly when active secret values change during rotation
- Route notifications to Lambda, SNS, SQS, or Step Functions via EventBridge rules
- Automatically enabled on default event bus with no configuration required
- Available in all AWS Regions at no additional cost
This feature enables proactive credential refresh, service restarts, and compliance reporting for secret rotation events.
