Amazon S3 Event Notifications now include system-generated tags

News

Amazon S3 Event Notifications now include system-generated tags in events delivered to EventBridge, SQS, SNS, and Lambda.

  • System-generated tags are metadata labels applied by AWS services to S3 buckets
  • Filter events from thousands of buckets with a single EventBridge rule instead of listing individual bucket names
  • Enable S3 Event Notifications via AWS Management Console, SDK, or CLI
  • Automatically included if CloudFormation or other services have applied tags to buckets
  • Available at no additional cost in all AWS Regions with no configuration changes required

This enhancement simplifies event filtering and management for S3 bucket operations at scale.
