AgentCore runtime instances are now generally available

This article announces the general availability of AgentCore runtime instances in Amazon Bedrock, allowing AI agents to run on EC2 instances without infrastructure management.

  • Deploy agents on EC2 instances with AWS-managed provisioning, patching, and scaling
  • Support for GPU-accelerated, memory-optimized, and compute-optimized instance types
  • Enable long-running agent sessions up to 14 days versus 8 hours for serverless microVM option
  • Create capacity providers via AWS Management Console, CLI, SDKs, or APIs
  • Available in 9 AWS regions including US, Asia Pacific, and Europe
  • Charged for compute management in addition to EC2 costs

Runtime instances provide flexible compute options for sustained, resource-intensive AI agents while maintaining consistent deployment and invocation methods.
