AWS Storage Gateway now supports FIPS-compliant private connectivity for Tape and Volume Gateway

News

AWS Storage Gateway now supports FIPS 140-3 validated endpoints over AWS PrivateLink for Tape and Volume Gateway, enabling private FIPS-compliant connectivity for regulated workloads.

  • FIPS endpoints previously available only over public internet; now available privately via PrivateLink
  • Create FIPS interface VPC endpoint in your VPC and select it when activating your gateway
  • Gateway connects to Storage Gateway service over FIPS validated endpoint on private AWS network
  • Requires gateway software version 3.2.7 or later
  • Available in eight AWS Regions including US East, US West, Canada, and AWS GovCloud

This launch simplifies compliance for regulated workloads by keeping FIPS-compliant traffic on the private AWS network.
