Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio now supports ODBC connections for Microsoft Power BI and other analytics tools

This article announces ODBC connection support in Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio, allowing analysts to connect Power BI and other ODBC-compatible tools to governed data.

  • Connect Microsoft Power BI and ODBC-compatible analytics tools directly to SageMaker Unified Studio projects
  • Uses Amazon Athena ODBC driver (version 2.2.0.1 or later) for native connectivity
  • Supports two authentication modes: SageMakerBrowserIdc and SageMakerIam
  • ODBC connection details available in project overview alongside existing JDBC view
  • Available in all AWS Regions where SageMaker Unified Studio operates at no additional cost

Analysts can now use their standardized Power BI workflows to access governed data with DSN-less or named DSN configurations.
