This article announces the availability of Amazon DynamoDB Accelerator (DAX) in 17 additional AWS Regions, expanding global coverage.
- DAX is a fully managed in-memory cache delivering up to 10x performance improvement for DynamoDB workloads
- New regions include Asia Pacific (Hong Kong, Hyderabad, Jakarta, Malaysia, Melbourne, New Zealand, Osaka, Seoul, Taipei, Thailand), Canada West (Calgary), Europe (Milan, Zurich), Israel (Tel Aviv), Mexico (Central), and AWS GovCloud (US-East, US-West)
- Reduces latency from single-digit milliseconds to microseconds at millions of requests per second
- API-compatible with DynamoDB, requiring minimal code changes for integration
- Supports read-intensive workloads like real-time bidding, gaming leaderboards, and retail catalogs
- Fully managed operations include automated patching, failover, and scaling
DAX expansion enables customers to meet local data residency requirements while accelerating read-heavy DynamoDB workloads globally.
