The AWS Advanced Ruby Driver Wrapper is now generally available for Amazon RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL and MySQL-compatible databases.
- Reduces RDS Blue/Green switchover and Aurora Global database switchover times
- Improves application availability during database failovers
- Supports AWS Secrets Manager and IAM token-based authentication
- Builds on community pg and mysql2 drivers with enhanced functionality
- Monitors database cluster status and connects to newly promoted writers
- Integrates with ActiveRecord via aws_postgresql and aws_mysql2 adapters without code changes
- Available as open-source under Apache 2.0 license on GitHub
The wrapper enables faster database failover recovery and simplified authentication for Ruby applications using AWS databases.
