AWS has announced the general availability of the Advanced NodeJS Driver for Amazon RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL and MySQL-compatible database clusters.
- Provides faster switchover and failover times (single-digit seconds)
- Supports Federated Authentication
- Enables authentication with AWS Secrets Manager and IAM
- Compatible with PostgreSQL and MySQL clients
- Supports installation on Windows, Mac, and Linux
- Released as an open-source project under Apache 2.0 License
The driver monitors database cluster status and topology to quickly determine the new writer, significantly reducing failover times compared to open-source alternatives.
