AWS Lambda supports OAuth authentication for self-managed Apache Kafka event sources
News
AWS Lambda now supports OAuth authentication for self-managed Apache Kafka event source mappings, including Kafka clusters and managed offerings like Confluent Cloud, Aiven, and Redpanda.
- Authenticate Lambda Kafka consumers through enterprise identity providers like Amazon Cognito or Okta
- Enables compliance with security requirements for regulated industries requiring OAuth
- Complements existing SASL/PLAIN, SASL/SCRAM, and mTLS authentication methods
- Provides automatic scaling, error handling, batching, and event filtering for serverless Kafka consumers
- Available in all AWS commercial Regions where self-managed Kafka ESM is supported
OAuth support allows customers to apply consistent identity governance and access policies across Kafka clusters and Lambda consumers.
