AWS Transfer Family now supports AWS Secrets Manager storage for SFTP server host keys
News
AWS Transfer Family now supports storing SFTP server host keys in AWS Secrets Manager, giving users greater control over server identity and simplifying migrations and failover.
- Store SFTP host keys in AWS Secrets Manager instead of within the Transfer Family service
- Retrieve private key material and reuse the same host key across servers and AWS Regions
- Enable failover scenarios using standby servers without requiring clients to trust new keys
- Use IAM policies to control access to stored keys
- Available in all AWS Regions where AWS Transfer Family operates
This enhancement simplifies SFTP server management by providing greater flexibility in host key management and reducing operational complexity during migrations and failover events.
