Amazon CloudWatch announces log routing and chained log parsers

News

Amazon CloudWatch announces conditional log routing and chained parsers for CloudWatch pipelines, enabling more sophisticated log data transformation and routing.

  • Conditional log routing sends events to different log groups based on conditions evaluated against processed fields
  • Separate events by severity, source, or type with appropriate retention and access controls
  • Chained parsers apply multiple parser processors sequentially, where later parsers consume fields from earlier ones
  • Parse JSON envelopes first, then apply Grok parsers to extracted fields
  • Available in all commercial AWS Regions where CloudWatch pipelines is generally available
  • Configure via AWS Management Console, AWS CLI, or AWS SDKs

These capabilities enable handling of diverse log formats and routing them to appropriate log groups within a single pipeline.
