AWS IAM Identity Center now supports optimistic locking for users and groups in its identity store
News
AWS IAM Identity Center now supports optimistic locking for users and groups in its identity store, preventing silent overwrites when multiple administrators modify the same resources simultaneously.
- Each user and group has a Revision value that updates whenever attributes change
- Update and delete requests succeed only if the supplied Revision matches the current value
- Conflicting requests return ConflictException, allowing workflows to retry with latest values
- Revision parameter is optional; existing integrations continue working without changes
- Supported through Identity Store API, not SCIM endpoint
- Available in all AWS Regions where IAM Identity Center operates at no additional cost
Optimistic locking prevents data conflicts in multi-administrator environments and automated workflows managing IAM Identity Center users and groups.
