Announcing Amazon ECS Gateway, a managed ingress solution for your ECS services

News

AWS announces Amazon ECS Gateway, a managed ingress solution that simplifies ingress networking for containerized applications by automatically provisioning and managing Application Load Balancers.

  • Platform teams define networking standards on a gateway and associate with clusters for centralized governance
  • Supports host-based routing with up to 25 services sharing a single ALB to reduce costs
  • Each service receives a unique DNS hostname for traffic routing
  • ECS manages full infrastructure lifecycle, automatically scaling ALBs based on capacity needs
  • Available across all commercial AWS Regions at no additional charge; pay only for underlying infrastructure
  • Works with ECS services using awsvpc network mode across all launch types

ECS Gateway enables application teams to inherit organizational networking standards without requiring networking expertise, while providing visibility into traffic routing and health metrics.
