AWS DataSync Enhanced mode supports OpenID Connect (OIDC) for Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure

News

AWS DataSync Enhanced mode now supports OpenID Connect (OIDC) authentication for Google Cloud Storage and Microsoft Azure Blob Storage locations.

  • Uses IAM roles to obtain short-lived credentials from Google Cloud or Microsoft Entra ID
  • Automatically refreshes credentials to ensure uninterrupted data transfers
  • Eliminates need for long-term credentials like HMAC keys or SAS tokens
  • Enables secure cross-cloud data movement while maintaining security compliance
  • Configure via AWS CLI, API, or AWS CloudFormation
  • Available in all AWS Regions supporting DataSync Enhanced mode

This enhancement allows organizations to transfer data across clouds securely while adhering to policies that restrict long-term credential usage.
