Amazon CloudWatch Logs now automatically indexes frequently queried fields, accelerating CloudWatch Logs Insights queries without requiring manual setup.
- Automatically indexes fields used in filtering operations (= and IN) based on query patterns
- Auto-indexed fields don't count toward the 20-field-per-log-group limit
- Retained for 30 days and updated as query patterns change
- Promote fields to permanent indexing via console or API
- Available in all supported AWS Regions at no additional cost
Eliminates manual field indexing overhead while adapting to evolving query patterns.
