This article announces 25 new query commands and functions for Amazon CloudWatch Logs Insights, expanding log analysis capabilities.

  • Type conversion and encoding functions: hexToAscii, hexToDec, decToHex
  • Date and time functions: parseDate, formatDate, queryStartTime, queryEndTime, queryTimeRange
  • String and JSON functions: messageSize, jsonArraySize, jsonArrayContains, isNumeric
  • Statistical commands: variance, topk, countFrequent for aggregation and analysis
  • Row-sequencing and null-handling: autoregress, accum, filldown, fillmissing
  • Sessionization and time-comparison: sessionize, logcompare for temporal analysis
  • Data analysis and enrichment: outlier detection, where, appendcols, cidrlookup
  • Available in all commercial AWS Regions

These additions enable customers to perform complex statistical analysis, handle missing data, detect anomalies, and enrich logs with lookup data more effectively.
