Amazon CloudWatch Logs Insights now lets you estimate the volume of log data in bytes that a query would scan before running it.
- Estimate appears automatically in the query editor when changing log groups, time range, or query text
- Use the estimate command with AWS CLI or API to request estimates explicitly
- Estimate commands incur no CloudWatch Logs Insights query charges
- Available in all AWS commercial regions
This feature helps users optimize queries by adjusting log group selection, time ranges, and filters before execution.
