Amazon RDS for Oracle no longer requires automatic minor version upgrades for JVM, Spatial, Locator, and OLAP options
News
Amazon RDS for Oracle now lets you disable automatic minor version upgrades on DB instances using JVM, Spatial, Locator, or OLAP options, previously required to be enabled.
- Turn off automatic minor version upgrades on new and existing DB instances with these options
- Users now control when to apply minor version upgrades instead of automatic enforcement
- Recommended to apply new minor versions regularly for latest Oracle security fixes
- Use AWS Organizations upgrade rollout policy to control upgrade order while keeping automatic upgrades enabled
- Available in all commercial AWS Regions and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions
This change provides greater flexibility for managing Oracle database upgrades while maintaining security compliance.
